এ কি বললেন মহাত্মা হ্যানিম্যান ! তাহলে কি তিনি ?
"Shameful, blasphemous thought," I exclaimed-What, shall it be said that the infinite wisdom of the eternal Spirit that animates the universe could not produce remedies to allay the sufferings of the diseases it allows to arise? The all-loving paternal goodness of Him whom no name worthily designates, who richly supplies all wants, even the scarcely conceivable ones of the insect in the dust, imperceptible by reason of its minuteness to the keenest mortal eye, and who dispenses throughout all creation life and happiness in rich abundance shall it be said that He was capable of the tyranny of not permitting that man, made in His own.
image, should, even by the efforts of his penetrating mind, that has been breathed into him from above, find out the way to discover remedies in the stupendous kingdom of created things. which should be able to deliver his brethren of mankind from their sufferings often worse than death itself?
Shall He, the Father of all, behold with indifference the martyrdom of his best- loved creatures by disease, and yet have rendered it impossible to the genius of man, to which all else is possible, to find any method, any easy, sure, trustworthy method, whereby they may see diseases in their proper point of view and whereby they may interrogate medicines as to their special uses, as to what they are really, surely, and positively serviceable for?
Sooner than admit this blasphemous thought, I would have abjured all the medical systems in the world!
No! there is a God, a good God, who is all goodness and wisdom! and as surely as this is the case must there be a way of his creation whereby diseases may be seen in the right point of view, and be cured with certainty, a way not hidden in endless abstractions and fantastic speculations!"
অর্থাৎ, "লজ্জাজনক ঈশ্বরনিন্দাসূচক চিন্তা, আমি বিস্মিত হই-এইকি বলা যাবে যে, আদি-অন্তহীন অদৃশ্য ঈশ্বরের সীমাহীন প্রজ্ঞা যা বিশ্বব্রহ্মাণ্ডকে প্রাণবান করে সেই মহাপ্রজ্ঞান রোগব্যাধিসমূহ এর যন্ত্রণাসহ আরোগ্য করার জন্য ঔষধ সৃষ্টি করতে পারেন না ?
তাঁর পিতৃমূলত সর্বজনীন মঙ্গলময় ভালবাসা যার প্রসংশা শেষ করা যায় না, যিনি না চাইতেই সকল চাহিদা পূরণ করেন, এমনকি ধুলিকণার কদাচিৎ কল্পনাসাধ্য ক্ষুদ্র কীটসমূহেরও, যা এর ক্ষুদ্রত্বের জন্য অতিতীক্ষ্ণ চর্মচোখেও দেখা যায় না, এবং যিনি সকল সৃষ্টিকে আগাগোড়া জীবন ও সুখৈশ্বর্য পর্যাপ্ত পরিমাণে বন্টন করেন-তাহলে কি বলা যায় যে, তাঁর নিজ প্রতিবিম্বরূপে সৃষ্ট এই মানুষকে তাঁর সৃষ্ট বস্তুর মহারাজ্যে ঔষধ খুঁজে বের করার পথ প্রদান না করে জুলুম করবেন, এমনকি মানুষের অন্তর্ভেদী মানব প্রচেষ্টা দ্বারা, যা তাকে উপর থেকে ফুঁকে দেওয়া হয়েছে, যা মানব ভ্রাতবৃন্দকে তাদের রোগযন্ত্রণা থেকে মুক্ত করবে, যা প্রায়ই স্বয়ং মৃত্যু অপেক্ষাও খারাপ হয় ?
সকলের স্রষ্টা, তিনি রোগ-ব্যাধি কর্তৃক তাঁর অতিপ্রিয় সৃষ্টিসমূহের যন্ত্রণা উদাসীনতার সাথে দেখবেন, এবং সেইহেতু তিনি। মানুষের প্রতিভার কাছে এটি অসম্ভব করে রেখেছেন, যার পক্ষে সবই সম্ভব, যেকোনো পদ্ধতি আবিষ্কার করা, যে কোনো সহজ, নিশ্চিত এবং নির্ভরযোগ্য পদ্ধতি আবিষ্কার করা, যদ্বারা তারা ব্যাধিকে তাদের যথাযথ অবস্থায় দেখবে এবং তারা পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খভাবে ঔষধসমূহকে জিজ্ঞাসা করবে তাদের বিশিষ্ট ব্যবহার সম্পর্কে, তারা সত্যিকারে, নিশ্চিত এবং সন্দেহাতীতভাবে কোন্ অবস্থার জন্য উপযোগী সেই সম্পর্কে ?
যেইমাত্র স্বীকার করলাম ইহা ঈশ্বরনিন্দাসূচক, তৎক্ষণাৎ আমি পাপাচার থেকে মুক্ত হওয়ার জন্য বিশ্বের সকল প্রকার চিকিৎসাপদ্ধতি বর্জন করলাম ! আর নয়! একজন স্রষ্টা আছেন, মঙ্গলময় শ্রষ্টা, যিনি সর্বমঙ্গলময় এবং জ্ঞানময়। নিশ্চয়ই তাঁর সৃষ্টির জন্য একটি শান্তির পথ আছে যদ্দ্বারা ব্যাধিকে তাদের যথাযথ দৃশ্যে দেখা যাবে এবং নিশ্চয়তার সাথে আরোগ্য করা যাবে, এ পথ সীমাহীন কল্পনা এবং অবাস্তব অনুমানে আচ্ছন্ন নয় !"
